Terminal Building

In 1991 Elliot Lake set precedence by continuing to provide weather services despite the elimination of funding. Nearby weather stations south and west report their own micro climate as they are influenced by the Great Lakes. Elliot Lake reports what is inland and north of Lake Huron.  Our Mayor and Council has your best interest in mind by continuing to provide this data. To preserve this service all considerations of fuel sales are appreciated and every landing justifies providing this service.

Our airport terminal building is definitely unique. It is a modern facility that resembles a museum. In addition to four display cases of model aircraft, the walls are adorned with aviation related pictures and several historical artifacts are on display.

As a personal project, Brenda Lalonde has reduced boxes of aviation magazines into a massive organized accumulation of separated articles. Specialized magazines and books have been kept intact and referenced through the same database by category and subcategory. This vast library has the potential to save you money and grief, or at the very least provide entertainment and education. This has been set up with you in mind and access is free.

Of very special interest, are a small collection of magazines dating back to the late 30's. Read articles in the present tense of 70 years past.

The airport has set up tables in our Canadian Forces/Dehavilland room (also known as Brenda's greenhouse) for you to use as a meeting or conference room, or for flight planning.

In addition to the snack, pop, coffee, and hot chocolate machines, we have a barbecue for pilots to use for a quick bite enroute, or picnic for your family, friends, clubs, or organizations. In general we provide the hardware and you bring the software. The secluded area complete with picnic tables will accommodate a significant crowd. This area is also being used by persons wishing to camp on site for the night.  We also have a kitchen complete with fridge, stove, toaster, kettle and microwave also free for use by aviators.

It should be quite evident that we are prepared to go the extra mile and appreciate your patronage. Looking for a place to fly to? Look no further.
